As you can see Ladies and Gents our kids have crάpped this category with drab and boring questions, the bulk being ungrateful to their answerers; I hope my question would entertain you a bit;

So why Chinese roofs are crooked? What can you say about roofs of other cultures? How could you explain this variety?
Since this is physics category, analysis, speculations, and formulas are welcome; do not hurry, the first does not mean the best! I’ve never seen this question anywhere before not saying of the answer;

Dude Chinese economy means don't let go of anything and consume each and everything. Crooked rooks will capture the worms, and birds and flies and bats lol for their food consumption.

If speaking in terms of the wind flow and forces of nature then u have to understand that crooked roof is to cut the wind and not let it blow the house off with it's force, cyclones for example will not occur much as the wind will definatley get a cut thru it's directional flow, thereby breaking it's force and distributing it unevenly.

If u see the houses built are also very close to one another. again to cut down the air flow. I suppose it's a cold country and since it gets it's share of snow fall, the people must be trying to cut off the direct impact of the snow in their house and stopping the snow to flop down from the roof directly in front of their doors. To divert or to collect the snow in the corners is something logical.

I suppose it's the climatic conditions which have made the chinese design their homes and thus u have to understand the physics behind it. Atmospheric physics :D

Lol pardon me if i make no sense LMAO but thats what my logic is screaming to me.

Oh and yeah it also gives it some unique look unlike from the rest of the world prolly they want to give their home a moustache like appearance lol making the house a MAN who takes care ;-)

If u think i'm a egghead do lemme know :-P

Additional details :

LMAO now i see why i love the beautiful egg :-P and thanksss for calling me one lol ;-)

It appears, from the site below, that the roof was used for structural support. That way they would have more liberty in placing the walls inside the structure.

Here's hte quote:
During the 10th Century Tang Dynasty, a favorite saying was, "The walls may topple down, but the roof would not collapse." This meant the function of the wall was not to support the weight of the roof, but to separate the space within a building. Because of this architectural style, windows and doors of any sizes and shapes would not cause the building to cave-in.
