i think faced with ultimate death situation most would run if they knew there was certain death, but some out there would give there lives to protect the ones they love even in certain death, wow what a great species we are :)

If they had children, it might be best he survive so that they weren't orphaned. Otherwise, it would probably depend on whether he was truly in love with her and what she wanted him to do.

My husband and I have had this discussion/argument (thats what it turned into). I told him if I tell him to leave he better leave. He claims I am healthier and younger and have experinced less. We agreed that it would depend upon the circumstances and that someone would have to be there for the kids. If given the choice though we would both go (if the kids are of age) because without the other our life has no meaning to us.

If he truely loved his wife, he could not survive without his wife, so suffer the same death.

lots of variables here...
if it were me, and my wife were my ex gf (whom i love), then i think i would be able to overcome the fear and die with her or save her life or whatever.
...when it comes to facing scary situations we all imagine we would be braver than we actually are. its not how you imagine it.... you might learn something about yourself that you didnt wish were so. then you bring this new knowledge of yours back into a society filled with people who are still ignorant and think they would be brave... and it can be real difficult to deal with. people just dont get it, they are arrogant and ignorant... but its not really their fault... they just dont know any better.
anyway, i said all that to say that unless you REALLY love your wife... youll probably save yourself. im not really even sure if most men love their wives.
