One day I hear something positive about doing this for a living; next day I am severely discouraged from it.
Any help out there?

The best advice I can give you in the short run is don't do it. It is the hardest sales job there is.

You'll work the hardest you ever have in your life. And it's not just 9 to 5; it involves evenings and weekends. And you have to be nice to EVERYONE! You have to be good at promoting yourself. The rewards can be big, and notice I said can; I've had way easier jobs.

Pros: If you are really really good, you can make a LOT of money!
Cons: The hours suck...work weekends & evenings...and if the housing market is bad....so is your job

Sometimes it's hard to make good money .
My teacher is a realtor and she' said the market is so bad that she's isn't making hardly anything.
