Sweden has a very high suicide rate. Its citizens pay very high taxes in order to be able to provide all the welfare that they demand.
Personally I would rate Norway as being far more successful. This country has stayed outside the EU and is quietly working away and building a successful economy. The people are, on the whole, extremely pleasant to deal with and are proud of what they have achieved. Perhaps the UK could take a leaf out of their book.

I do not know enough about Sweden and Swedish society to agree or disagree but it seems like a very ambitious statement. Hope it can be backed up.

Sweden was succesful in taking democracy and development together.Ture non aligned country is Sweden.Perhaps it may be the only non controversial country.But the swedish banking industry has much contributed to money laundering,illegal drug smuggling and arms trade.Swedish banking is used by terrorist groups to tranfer their finds.

I think it is a fair statement but other Nordic countries and Switzerland are in that category. Sometimes, I wish these European countries were as big (geography and population) and as powerful as the US. America is arrogant, agressive and not a people's country.
