While it would seem inevitable that the Patriots will not only win the superbowl but every game they play this year, the answer is 'no'. The NFL should not shut down and just give the trophy to the Patriots. There is still a lot of games to be played to which tickets have already been sold and TV contracts have been written. People will get enjoyment and dollars will be generated from these games. Also, there are those out there like other people that answered this question that actually think that some other team has a shot.

No, and for a very good reason. They have to earn it like every other team had to.
I looked at the Patriots schedule and the fact is that they have a creampuff schedule. The only formidable opponents on the schedule have been the Cowboys and Colts, with Pittsburgh coming up. Throw in the fact that the Patriots have a potent offense and you have this hysteria that they are the greatest team ever. Remember, they barely won against Indy who were without several starters, and the season ain't over yet.
When they prove that they are the greatest team ever by finishing 16-0 and sweeping the playoffs, then I have no problem calling them such.
I just don't get on the bandwagon about annointing players, coaches, or teams as being the greatest before it's time to. It's something that I do in retrospect. Until some teams unseats them, the 1972 Dolphins are the greatest in my book.

Instead of shutting down the NFL how about the NFL gather all the coaches together and give them some advice on how to coach their teams to victory.
People make fun of the pats but maybe they should just check their attitudes at the locker room door and play the game like every play matters like the Pats do.
Be a team player and see what happens.

No, for the same reason that the NCAA wont shut it down already. For the NFL its about duping more money out of the fans, and for the BCS its about the same, false hopes, yet the beauty pageant winner is already picked, so they want to dupe all the fans out of more money for their National Beauty Title.

i think everyone just forgot that there are 31 other NFL teams at the moment, so what.. the pats haven't lost... it doesn't mean there going to win the super bowl

No because the Colts can beat them if they are healthy, their game was close earlier this year so just wait until the AFC championship game
