At the welfare office ask for a LEAP application (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) they help with your heating costs during the winter.
Your county family services (welfare) also have programs to help you with child care costs while you work, if your children are in daycare.

Depending on your income you might qualify for food stamps and your state's child health program.

Asking for handouts or donations is only temporary. I'm not suggesting you are.......I'm just pointing this out to other respondents here.

Adjusting your lifestyle and perhaps thinking outside of the box for earning income is helpful too..

I don't know much about where you are from but this will be enough info to help for (anyone). As far as help, it is legal to put the ex-wife or girlfriend on child support. If your children are adopted they do offer help from the state for people like you. If that isn't enough, the do provide food stamps and ad for low income families even if you have a job you still may qualify at the depart of human services, do not be ashamed if you need help that's what this stuff is for, even I have once relied on them, just don't get comfortable or you will be up for ruin, know what I mean. Utility companies also offer help. Macy's and many other top brand companies are hiring for the season so get in and work your butt off, they might keep you. Even when you get a stable job work seasonals part-time for extra income. In Memphis, TN this is fed-ex job line # 901-369-3345, they will give you all the info you need for a part-time job. GOOD LUCK, and MANY BLESSINGS. vote 4 me best answer.

Some utility companies have programs to help with utility bills for low income people.

Churches sometimes give small grants (maybe a couple hundred dollars) to help in emergencies.

The same help exists for single fathers as for single mothers... welfare, food stamps, etc... assuming you meet financial guidelines... if not, economize! A possibility... consider a housemate, also with kids...

Yes, most electric companies will help you, phone, and believe it or not some stores like Wal-mart, and so forth. You can also get help with food and sometimes churches will help with a lot of different things. Good luck
