my current ferrent mika is very tame, i handle her everyday, and the same will go with the newbies. i actually dont like them being in a cage, but i cant let them have free run of the home.

First of all don't frame it in wood unless the wood will be mesh wire wrapped. Don't use a mesh large enough for them to even get a head through, as they may not be able to retract it. Don't use bar type like bird cages; the ferret will fins a way to escape.

Without knowing at all how "tame" you want them to be, or how often you'll handle them, or aclimate them to a cage; I'd probably do a mesh size and strength; similar to a rabbit cage maybe even as large as 1 inch mesh, but no larger. half inch would allow them to be stable on it to walk on.

If you have to frame a wooden base; I'd WIRE it INSIDE the framework. 2 x 2 lumber and wire mesh fencing type material are pretty inexpensive.

Obviously no CUT pieces should protrude or be available for them to access.

Do you mean parrot? Ferrets are indoor uncaged animals. Where did you get the idea of misting? Sounds like an iguana. Where do you live? You don't suspend their cage from the roof. Never use wire for a floor. Solid flooring. Just use any search engine for home made ferret cage. You will see NONE are what you are talking about. Poor ferrets if you get one and do this to them. Really sounds like a cruel living place where you "hose them out" instead of being responsible and cleaning their litter pan. Think cat not lizard. Or do you keep your cat in a suspended cage like a bird?
