I wan to get a new beta, how do I make him not die
I have a bowl with pennies on the bottom, I keep it on the fireplace so the temp stays around 78f.

no pennies, these contain toxins and will kill the fish. this could work since the temp stays warm, as long as it doesn't get over 85*F it should be fine. however, the bowl should be at least 1g, preferably 2g so he has room to swim.
however, I get the feeling you're looking for a decorative piece, so why not just get your favorite flower and make a vase arrangement?

No pennies!!! This will kill your betta! I would not do it. Rocks are fine but pennis are outta the question. Here is some betta info I found on the internet just because I dont really feel like typing much. But good question.

You should probably take the pennies out and put in some steralized rocks that can be found at a pet store. I also recommend that you get some fizzy tablets. There are some that I have that are specifically for betas. Also, get him/her some beta food, not fish food. Hope it helps! ;)

Take the pennies out and take it off the fireplace. It will be fine at room temperature.

well a filter isn't a definate but it doesnt hurt to have one
.http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... thats similar to wat i use its pretty gewd. if you have a betta make sure your plants are silk becuase the plastic plants will cut their fins and giv them a infection and then they might die.! just make sure your fish are suitable with a betta. NEVER put two male bettas together. for bettas and goldfish u dont need a heater but for other fish you need a water heater so if u have other fish get a heater. dont forget your sand/gravel and plants if you wanna get fancy, get live plants!. and then a lil light is nice but not needed. good luck

Betta's are very cute if you see them but if you put him with another fish he is some ferocious fish.So make sure you don't put him with other fish and try to change the pennies to another type of rock.
