Babies cry in all cultures. No matter what, when a baby is hungry or tired, they *will* cry! However, they say that babies cry more in the united states because we raise our babies a little differently. In other cultures, they carry their babies everywhere, where we are told to not hold them too much because it might "spoil" them. In poor countries, mothers "wear" their babies all the time. I'm sure you've seen pictures of mothers with their babies on their backs. So in these cultures, the babies may cry less.

Oh no, crying is not culture related. It's an inborn ability. To that prior answer, Amish babies here in Pennsylvania where I live look and act like any other ones. What do you think?

There is no such thing as a culture in which a baby doesn't cry. LOL.

Babies cry, it's a normal response for them. It's going to happen if they are sleepy, if they are hungry, if they aren't feeling well...

... sorry, but even with the link that your chosen response provided, it doesn't mean much. When a baby is ill, he/she is going to cry, regardless. All the holding of a baby in world will not prevent a little one from crying when she/he is sick.

There are none. However, cultures in which the baby is carried in a sling, close to its mother, supposedly cry 50% less. It makes sense when you think about it! I know my baby is out like a light when I carry him around in his sling :)

I have heard that babies cry less in cultures where they are worn (like in a sling) and they can nurse at will. I have also heard that these cultures do not have colic like western cultures.

There are none. In any culture, babies will cry when they are hungry or uncomfortable.

All babies cry. If they dont then there is something wrong with them neurologically since that's how they communicate.
