offline...im actually talking to a person here online whose going through something and i really cant help her..i wish i could but i cant. whereas if im with a real friend offline i know how to help them

Serious talks? Like "I am having suicidal thoughts or am broke and have no hope?" Offline, easier to read people and help them address their issues.

I have done both, but I prefer to be off-line. When you're in-person or on the phone, it's easier since you can speak your mind rather than type your emotions. Don't get me wrong, chatting online is fun too, but off-line is much better. I think you can accomplish more when you're off-line.

Offline. I like being able to read the tone of their voice, their facial expressions, and their body language.

Unless they can't understand that online is different from face to face. That is when it gets awkward.
Otherwise I will always try and tell you what you are asking me to tell you to that point.
I don't tell people things of an identification online.
That is just the way it is.

It depends with whom you are talking to. There are serious things that you want to talk about and they would be best delivered if both of you don't see each other eye to eye.

you can't hear a person's tone of voice or look at their eyes to see how they're feeling if it's online.
