There are aspects of socialism in the USA [social security, for example] and aspects of capitalism in the most supposedly-socialistic countries [PRC or Cuba].

Trying to define the world, any large segment of it, or any large society in terms of socialistic or capitalistic theory is nonsense.

Look at market-driven economies for the true models.

As for your friend's comment - a bit shallow, don't you think?

Self-governing problems always lead to some form of totalitarian government.The rant by googie is baseless.There isn't a nation on this planet that hasn't been Socialized by the illuminati in the past 60 years.
