Chips are awesome and so are cold air intakes....Top Speed limiter is a device that does nnot allow your vechile to reach top speed. For example A 2007 Dodge Avenger with a V6 the car allows you to go 130 for a few seconds then it restricts the fuel flow to allow oyu to only go about 110-120. Another type of speed limiter (mostly found in trucks) lets you go up to 100 mph then drasctly drops your rpms and cuts the engines fuel source off. For example 2006 Chevrolet HD It allowed us to up to 90 with no problem but what the speedo hit 100 it killed the engines fuel (but still ran) and once we dropped back to 90 it allowed us to approach 100 again. And obviously The one guy is WRONG that siad it only allowed you to do the spped limit because how in the hell is the car going to know the speed limit? I would check out youtube their may be some crazy a$$ kids getting their rides up to the top speed limiter ;)

A speed limiter is a device that will stop you going over the legal speed limit for your vehicle. In other words the fastest you can go on a road in your country, then your vehicle will not be able to go over that speed. If the speed limit is 70, then the limiter will control the throttle at that point and stop you going any faster. Some vehicles however, are capable of high speeds due to size, shape and aerodynamics, and the manufacturer will limit the speed even tho the vehicle is capable of much faster. ''Super chipping'' is merely a way to bypass the limiter and let you max out the engine, some are illegal and some are not. I think peugeot do this, but i could be wrong........................any help?

Most vehicles with computer controlled engines have a programmed limit to vehicle speed and a limit to engine rpm.
These are put in the programming for safety reasons. Vehicle speed is limited to the speed rating of tires. You can change it with "super chips" at your own risk. That is usually all these "superchips" accomplish anyway. They are a total waste of money, just like those magnets you place on the fuel line to align the gasoline molecules. Go ahead and laugh, they are real and a lot of fools bought and swore by them. Just the same as others swear by super chips.

the speed limiter is what causes your truck to shut off. most trucks shut themselves of around 100 or so. will the top speed limiter gone you will be able to gain some high speeds. and a superchip is badass lol.

The speed limiter isn't really something you should care about since a reasonable person will not be exceeding it in normal driving.

Replacement chips are usually a bad deal that don't really give you much with a stock engine (though if you've tampered with your engine a new chip will let you get the most out of your tampering).

Every vehicle build has a top speed limit, 120 mph comes to mind. With out this limiter large block vehicles are capable of much higher speeds.
