I'm not in public school, but the books in the school library's probably have some kind of standard to make sure there isn't anything inappropriate for the students available. If there is, you probably won't have to worry that much. A higher reading level is good! I'm only about a year older than you and I've read adult level books for quite a while, my dad recommends some. If there is something making you uncomfortable with reading the books you should stop, I do sometimes. If it's just that you are worried you mom won't approve that you are reading adult books, tell her and assure her that you are responsible enough to stop if the story takes a turn for the worse. Or, if you must, let her read the books and check for herself if they are okay to read. I hope this helped you some, good luck, God bless, and happy reading! >^..^<

If they are good enough to be in a school library, they are good enough for you.
There is no real age limit on books. I was reading some pretty tough classics by the time I was in 6th grade and no one noticed except me. Well, Mom noticed because I was hiding in my room instead of getting the dishes done, but.....
Anyway, read what you want. You will discover for yourself what you don't like and what you like. The more you read, the more you learn.
By the way, the librarian probably knew they were high school books and she didn't stop you, did she?

If you enjoyed reading the books, why do you have to stop? It is not like the "book police" will arrest you for reading adult books. If some of the things in the books upset you, either talk to an adult about it, or stop reading them. Otherwise, keep reading!

if you were in elementary school i'd say dont! but hey, middle school, you're almost there, gonna read about it someday. besides, adult books are often times way better than those for the youngsters. besides when i was in seventh grade..
i started reading this series called the anita blake vampire hunter novels. well, i got to the sixth book, which is where the first sex scene of the series was. i read it, like omg thats weird, but the series was so good i obviously didn't stop just because of it. besides, it was new and interesting and helped me learn about that big topic with all the older kids. eventually my teacher even found out one day taht one of the books had sex scenes in it, and she gave me the weirdest look. i just laughed insanely, priceless moment.
so just read what ya want, you'll get used to it.

It's not a question of a specific age, it's a question of maturity. Some people mature faster. Hey, I was reading books that were at the 11th and 12th grade level in the 8th grade. And anyway, if it was in your school's library, it's probably okay. They wouldn't stock anything inappropriate.
What book was it, by the way?

If you're enjoying the stories and you don't feel like there's anything in 'em that will mess your head up too bad, read on. If it's good stuff, it'll expand your vocabulary, teach you random facts, and maybe give you some literary heroes. I started reading an "adult" series when I was in middle school. I'm still reading from that author, and his main characters are my superheroes.

What is the problem? If you enjoy the books keep on reading them. I can't think a high school library would have anything bad for you!

Keep reading. Adult fiction is more advanced, and will only help you to read better, aiding you in tackling more advanced work when you are in high school. It is not like the high school is stocked with porn or something. Read away! Good luck!

Read the book! I'm an adult and I love fantasies that are meant for young adults.

I'd say keep reading if it peaks your interest. I was in 4th grade and reading Jackie Collins books. It's doesn't matter what level a book is as along as you can comprehend the situations address and learn from them.
