A trashtalker should be able to back up what he says. In the history of the game, only 3 people were able to back it up: Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and Reggie Miller.

Trash talking in the NBA has been reduced by officials in the recent years. The refs have been instructed to quickly issue technical fouls if a player trash talks. However, that hasn't stopped F Rasheed Wallace, G Tracy McGrady, F Aaron Burgess, or C Theo Ratliff.
My all time trash talking team:
G Gary Payton,
G Reggie Miller
F Shawn Kemp,
F Gerald Wilkins,
C Dikembe Mutombo,

Rasheed does not talk trash to players, only refs. He just whines and bithces all the time. I don't think there are very many people that talk junk in the NBA anymore except Arenas.

These days it's Rasheed Wallace.
In the past, Chris Webber, Charles Barkley, and most of all Dennis Rodman. I remember Vlade Divac arguing a lot, but he was just a big goof.

Of all-time it's Larry Bird without a doubt. He'd tell the opposing defender what play they were going to run and show him the spot where he was going to shot the ball.
