while there is public and private disinterested benevolence, with it being associated with public more, this example of private disinterested benevolence helped explain it to me

you have two children, which you love dearly and equally, they both intensly want the same thing, but only one of them may have it , disinterested benevolence is needed from their parents
you would have compassion for both of them, but you couldnt/shouldnt want for one of them to achieve what they wanted more then the other one , you would not be interested in the end result, wanting a certain outcome
