Well rats are really smart although mice are really cute (unless they have red eyes). In my opinion I'd get a hamster they're so much more playful.

Mice & rats are nice pets. We have 5 rats (2 boys & 3 girls) but only 1 mouse now b/c she's pretty old & her cage-mates have passed. We also have a hamster & although we love the little guy he's nowhere near as interactive as rats & mice usually are.
Mice are endearing b/c they're so tiny yet perfectly formed & it's amazing to me that someone this small can have a unique personality. They're also very active & athletic, which is fun to watch. They tend to be more nervous than rats, but this varies & we've had some very calm & affectionate mice.
Rats are simply awesome. They're smart, usually very friendly & love taking rides on your shoulder or climbing under your shirt to take a nap while you're reading or watching TV. For the past 2 Halloweens, our 2 huge male rats have been greeting children with me 2 the front door (the boys were on my shoulders). Rats learn their names quickly (I'm not 100% certain that most of our mice have known their names) & you can teach each other tricks: I taught ours to wait their turn when I'm giving them treats & the girls taught me to act as a 'human bridge' for them to run back & forth from their cage, up my arms & onto my shoulders. They're smart enough that if one of them (usually the hairless girl) makes their wheel come loose, she runs over & looks @ me b/c she knows I'll fix it.

Never owned a mouse, had a few hamsters growing up and now we have two female rats...I prefer the rats to the hamster..a hamster is not playful they like to run away when loose, eat and sleep and if you dare wake them up they are all fluffy hair and teeth ready to bite, not morning critters at all. Rats are much smarter than either mice or hamsters, they can be taught their names, love to interact with their human owners, don't mind being woken up to come out to play, will not just ignore you and run away, the actually like to stay with you while they are loose and will scamper around but always return to you...it's been proven rats are very smart, the same can't be said for hamsters or mice. We used to let our rats run on the couch while we watched tv, they were on their own really but they would stay close but loved to explore then run back and climb in our shirt or sleeve then run around the couch some more. Now we have two cats so they can't have that freedom like they did but any hamster I ever had would be loose and just keep going, they didn't have any sense of bonding with the humans.

Gees! Mice are great pets. THey are affectionate and lovable. I had mice and my mom had pet mice when she was little. They really are great pets. There are many things you can do with a pet mouse or rat. I used to put her in my pockets and my purse and take her around with me. She used to roll around in a ball, and I would take her out and let her wander around on my bed or floor while I was in the room. She used to climb up the cage and hang upside down. I loved her and she was a great pet, however, they only live a few years and they have weak health and immune systems.

I have had rats and mice and Hamsters. There is not a whole lot you can do with them. If they get out and you can't catch them then you have a problem. Because you have to remember they are rodents and carry diseases, and so does there waste. They will act just like the little gray ones that you set out traps for.

hi A rat is medium sized, with a lengthy, skinny tail. Mice are smaller, yet actually have a lengthy, skinny tail. submit a photograph of your new puppy, and that i could desire to be waiting to help you. And definite you are able to practice mice. yet ravenous the adverse wee element definitely isn't a thank you to do it. in the adventure that your puppy is a mouse, you are able to set up an "adventure maze" in his cage, utilising kitchen/lavatory roll tubes. additionally use ladders and have little systems which you will placed treats onto. With mice, the extra youthful they are, the extra useful to start education them. Like i've got suggested nonetheless, submit a photograph and it may help with id. Regards, Kim

I've only had hamsters when little and I remember I liked them very much though I couldn't do much with them. I would go for a tiny white mouse. They are lovely, tiny and cute. I don't know if they are fun or not but I assume their behaviour is like hamsters'. Active little things going here and there all day, sure fun to watch at. It can be a nice pet to have, why not?

Fantastic pets!!! I like rats better because they can be worked with to sit on your shoulder and even trained to pick up objects and bring them to you across a table. They are very clean as long as you keep their bedding clean. They constantly clean themselves and each other. I love them!!
