Can the gap between rich and poor in the world go on widening?
And at which point would you consider it unbearable and start to feel as if one of the poor?
Pressuming there is a widening gap of course ... so take it as a hypothetical question if nothing else ... :-)

Yes, but it is important to bear in mind that there are those who refuse or unable to recieve credit and so are unable to live with the 'uncessary comforts of life.
I don't consider being poor unbearable all the time. It would be nice to have a car. To by my children their clothes without relying on grandparents, to have the extras as a car. We have one phone, a house phone and an old computer. I get internet for cheap and I found the computer for 12 bucks at a yard sale. We have gone without heat, electricity, and many of the basics. Now we have those things and we feel the richer for having basics and enough food to go around.
There is a widining gap between those who run themselves into proverty and those that actually have to deal with it. We have serious family health issues in our household, but morally and spiritually we are deffinately richer.

The gap will continue to fluctuate, I think, as political leaders come and go, natural disasters occur, wars are fought, etc. I don't think it is wider than it has ever been, it is just more visible. It is also in sharper contrast because of the current trend, bigger than ever before, of appearing to be well off by buying brand names, bigger houses and luxury cars.
I would consider it unbearable and as one of the poor if I couldn't afford to pay the rent for the roof over my head and couldn't work to feed myself. I have everything else I need to keep me emotionally and culturally wealthy.

while there is a gap, i am not so sure that it is rising, compared to past history
and then, it would really depend on what you consider poor, which country /group of people you are speaking of
of great importance also, in how people view theirselves and their condition, is how they can compare it to the past, and what their hope for the future is, and where their value system is placed
for instance, in my opinion in the USA, we dont have a large segement of "poor" people, yes we have those with less then others, but even most of those at the bottem have a place to live, heat in winter, food, clothing, all the basics, and even tv's and electricity and cars are in fact considered basics here, (we wont even get into cable, cell phones , computers etc)
that condition would be considered not poor in another country
so like most things, its all relative to what you think it is

All you need to do is get a couple nukes bombs and blow up the world, then all of this could end. Or you could kill your self, and it would all end. Its up to you, what do you want to do?
