waist measurement first, then inseam. 28" is really skinny... most stores don't even carry jeans under a 30" waist. The boys department uses a different system to measure, but there is an overlap and their sizes go up to a 32" waist.

If you're buying him jeans, you'll also need to know what style of fit he wants. Just like in girls clothes, guys have lots of fits to choose from.... skinny, loose, baggy, relaxed, low rise, etc.

Good luck

Waist size and inseam in inches. Usually waist size is listed first so something like 28 X 32 means a 28" waist and a 32" inseam. Unless your boyfriend is short, 28" is probably his waist size.

For instance. 28x32, is 28 inches waist, 32 inches inseam. In Europe they use completely different sizes.

Measured by waist and length of legs. Basically that.

32x30- I think it's waist-length measurement.
