I believe the purpose of life is to see whether or not we are worthy of eternal life with God. We are to challenge ourselves spiritually here on earth to see if we can handle the second eternal "earth", or Heaven.

"We" are all on this earth to achieve something or several things each. We are hear 1. to be cultured (there will be people from every nation in the new heaven and earth, the Bible is clear about that), 2. to learn how to work (in the new heaven and earth we will plant vinyards and eat of the fruit thereof, we shall build houses and inhabit them, etc...), 3. to reproduce and build families, as we learn about getting along in society and learn about love; remember maturing is a life long process, 4. to witness and or bring the gospel to others, and any of various kinds of spiritual work.
Under (1) we could also include self betterment.
So there are four main purposes in life. Bon appetite.
Well, may be five, Solomon in Ecclesiastes said there is nothing better for man than that he should eat and drink and enjoy all the good of his labor all the days of his life. Also solomon said that it is given unto mankind to discover the business that is done under the sun; suggesting I think that philosophical reasoning is one of our purposes. Certainly to accept the gospel we must go through a process of philosophical reasoning. But the above four are the main ones, though I am not commiting to only 4, just that there is a small limited number of main purposes for mankind in life.
And we all have a different task within those 4, so Mary for instance had the purpose to bring the Messiah into this world.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

seriously i always thought life as a game/also as gift but i mostly as a game it depends how u play it u can play it safe or not because life can be great and u think of it as a gift from god but then it could be a b*tch...so yeah. i also think we are alive to achieve something. or to try our best to do something...

I think our purpose gave birth to us and we each need to find out what that is for us. For example, take the musician who gives us pleasure with their music. That is there purpose.
