The local community where this happened (o'fallon, mo) has made internet harrasment a crime, but too late. The claim is that there is nothing the authorities can do, however the case has been re-opened.
In a sad twist, the guilty party, Lori Drew, has decided to sue the Meier family for defaming her name. Now that my friends is american justice. *sarcastic*

There was a story in my local paper about this today. The local police continue to investigate, but at this point, there is nothing specifically in the law that prohibits what Mrs. Drew did to Megan.
