i usedto think htat gteting good grades was the most important measure or success in college, but now i've had some classes that are actualy challenigng ( namely the philosophy class i'm taking right now) and i've thought maybe it doesnt matter what grade you get, even if you write a good paper, but hwat you learn from doing it.
i'm such a glutten for grade punishment that i'm going to take another philsophy class with the same teacher. oh but shes great. this is hte first elective class ivé ever taken . i alawys took classes for general ed, or major or minor requirements. but now i'm taking one for fun. is thisthe real point of college?

to me, its did you open your mind to new concepts, did you "learn how to learn" , do you realize there are many area that you havent even considered yet, while good grades are great, its the overall experience that is most important and will continue with you for the rest of your life,
one would also hope to learn not to call others bafoons! especially when your intial question did not define any conditions for answering, you asked what was thought,

i disagree with drama guy. although i never went to college, i can honestly say that what i learned in high school has never helped me out one bit. school does not teach you about life, it teaches you about careers.

so with your question, yes, grades are the most important thing in college, because that is what decides if you are successful in college. if you want to learn something about life, go out and live on your own, or listen to your elders.

of course, you can learn about life in college, but you have to look for that yourself. and even than, it is only a small percentage of what life really is. don't get me wrong, college is very important for a good job, unless you go into the entertainment business.

I think you have found the answer. Grades are important for your academic carreer. What you actually get out of the classes is what is important for life.
