for starters go to a speed test site like:
speedtest.net or speakeasy.net
If the tests are within spec's (+/- 10%) then there may be a firewall, spyware, computer setting that is boggin down the connection. (do several tests throughout the day to get an average).

Still sucking for speed, reset the router,,,

are you hardwired,, wireless.....if wireless..hardwire it up and see if there is a difference.... if it is a wireless problem,,,verizon cannot help you. you may be having wireless interference.....you can try to change the channel of the router but no guarentees..

If you have a CAT5 wire in the White WAN port , you might be able to by-pass the router and directly connect to the wall to see if the router is the choke point....

anywho hope this helps

Are you doing KaZZaa or file sharing or P2P or BitTorrent??? If your ISP is interfering by ''ramping you down'' , file a complaint with your Dept. of public Utilities commis. or your State Attorney General. Just a recent complaint these days w/ Providers, esp Cable Broadband.... as bandwidth decreases for cable as use goes up.

I would tell the owner of the computer just in case to scan for spyware. Most people don't do this enough.
