hmmmmm ... what I suggest is that you send a shipment of 5 week old ricotta cheese, ground beef, cabbage & pasta roll {unrefrigerated of course} to that Albanian Sock Recycling Centre, followed by a news crew. Then when the news gets out how BAD they now smell ..... why your old boots are like snuffing up rose petals.

If you steamclean the boots you will only make the smell worse and the damp will be increased as well breeding more bacteria and mold. You can get a large box of baking soda in the laundry isle and put about 1/2 cup in each shoe. Let that sit for a few days to really gt the stink out. Then you can do that at the end of every day. Another alternative is to grab a pair of old socks and put two or three charcoal briquettes (without lighter fluid) into each sock and stick it in your shoe overnight. Every three or four days after using them, you should put new charcoal into the socks as they can only soak up so much smell and moisture.
To help prevent sch bad odors, you can put about 1 tablespoon of baking soda into each of your socks. I don't advise using the foot powders as they will clog the pores of your shoes and the sweating will only get worse.

A good dose of fumigating agent would be the fist step. If the foam oozing out of the boot tops appears green, you know it's working. Then a healthy dose of Lysol. Put out in the sun to dry. Finally, sprinkle the insides liberally with baby powder. Then -- and this is important -- wash your feet. Put on some laundry-fresh whiter-than-white socks and slip them in the old booties. You feet will exhibit cleanliness next to godliness, and even the Virgin Mary would be proud to don your waffle stompers to wade through the mud.

try odor eaters, steam cleaning won't work, you can sprinkle baking soda and let set over night in a dry boot then vacuum out then put spray with foot spray let set over night to dry and then use odor eaters in your boots... that will help. but if you want to keep the fresh smell in a shoe use odor eaters then change every few months. always wear cotton socks. they breath and don't cause your foot to sweat. Good luck!!

There's a Dr. Scholl's Shoe Spray that you spray on the inside of your shoes or boots and when it dries it gets rid of the bad odors. You can spray the stuff in your footwear like once a week to keep the nasty odor from coming back.

VERY SPECIFIC aren't we lol. Anyway, I would think so, as long as you took the soles out and did it 'cause I don't know how you're going to get into the shoe (if you want to get at the rest of the shoe that is covered by the sole).

That sounds like a good idea.
You could get Odour Eater inserts to help.

Help? Yeah, stop letting Penfold borrow them. That should eliminate the stench.
