I don't think he was "disrespecting" anything.
I have seen many other clips where he was saying things that sound more in line with America than what some other candidates have said.
The videographer is very clever to point that out though...
But many people forget to raise their right hand.
And the Republicans all make a big show out of the flag and forget about the country it represents.
Ask yourself this - is it really so important to you that a man be made a fool of that you might discount a really good candidate based on a social blunder?
If so - I'll remind you that George Bush said we "should put food on our families" because he misread the teleprompter.

For me this is a tragic day in American history as i do no longer think the hot president and the Democratic occasion will unite or restoration united statesa.’s issues. in case you check out it deep it substitute into from some time past the sub top very own loan got here out of the bill Clinton time. On national wellbeing. Take check out Canada’s (national healthcare), everybody is waiting YEARS to work out a DOCTER! do you opt to attend a twelve months to work out a doctor in case you have shall we are saying, maximum cancers? And this is not any longer unfastened it comes out of tax payers money and government run. As for McCain God bless him. The enjoying cards the place stacked against him. What the place they? Age , no longer stable looking, no longer a candy talker, Republican Bush history, the worst economic device because of the fact the great melancholy of the Nineteen Thirties, and the on going conflict, so he had little or no danger to win. in case you think of Obama will take from the wealthy and supply it to the damaging you reside in delusion land. the wealthy will flow there money and investments out of united statesa. alongside with massive company and jobs. greater government capacity greater TAX to pay for each individual. Sorry i'm in basic terms complaining , yet I do care approximately united statesa. and that i did vote. What ever happens it won't impact me a lot as I certainly have moved out of the USA of a .And over right here. the components is stable ,nutrition is sparkling and considerable and existence form is on the take it component. on the plus component with the hot president. might desire to be waiting to get greater unfastened money from the hot Democratic government.

I find it more shocking that his political rivals do not say anything about it. It shows me their (Clinton, Richards) lack of resolve to defend the flag against those who would disrespect it.
On a side note: Was that the worst rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" you ever heard?

actually not one of them got it right. I admit it wasn't one of his finer moments but if you notice the flag is right behind them. Now tell me which one turned to FACE the flag and render respect. Like any politician they are physically incapable of turning their back on an audience. Probably afraid something will stick in it.
So lets review. Obama turns to face the music. which would be right if there wasn't a flag there and he fails to place his hand over his heart. The rest face the crowd instead of the music or the flag and apparently render honors to the potential voters.
I can hand this one to the republicans who had the brains not to attend evidentially. They spared themselves embarrassment because I doubt if any of them would have turned around, back to the crowd, denying themselves a photo-op to face the flag. Its un-political.
