Check locally, Electronics recycling events happen at least yearly in most cities, or donate it to a Goodwill or Salvage Store that benefits a non-profit charity you like. Someone will get some use out of it, it stops cluttering up your house, and your town gets benefit from reusing it or recycling it.

If you contact your local community center they will likely take your old computer as a donation. This also serves as a tax write off.

There are numerous non-profit agencies that would be elated to receive a PC, i.e., shelters, transitional housing programs, low income tutorial sites, senior citizen centers, small private schools, etc.
