Well - you have the right frame of mind for the publishing world. Nothing is impossible. That's good - many people get discouraged and think the publishing world is impossible.

Nevertheless, I would recommend picking up a copy of Writer's Market 2007 or 2008. It will explain the entire publishing process for you. Very helpful guide.

Age does not really matter - as long as your material is buyable.

In order for a publisher to consider your manuscript, it must be submitted by an agent. Otherwise you can count on it ending up in the 'slush pile' and eventually being returned to you, unread.

So, you must find an agent. Most agents expect you to have already had a book published before agreeing to handle your work. You may be able to persuade them if you have had articles and/or short fiction published and well-received, but your tear-sheets had better be top-notch.

For a start, though, please get a copy of The Elements of Style by Strunk and White. Read it. Better still, memorize it. There are errors in usage in your post, which you wouldn't want to appear in your manuscript.

Your age won't matter, if you write well. Good luck!

If you go to my profile, you will find I star all good Q and A on publishing and writing so novice authors can go through them and get good information. Many successful writers have posted answers to this question. Go through the ones I have starred and print out those you think will help you.

Yes, it is a long and difficult road but it can be done.
