Tell them why it would be useful. Your school work. You won't hog the family computer while completing your daily assignments. Also, but sure to mention that you are aware of their concern for your safety and for that reason you want them to put parental controls on there and give them all your passwords so you can show them you are responsible.

You don't need one now. Wait until college, when a newer one is out. You don't want to be using one that is 7 years old when you're in college ya know.
I think you should just use the family computer, but ask your parents to make you your own account, with a password, and keep your files private.
But as for a laptop, they are very expensive. I paid $1200 for mine... and that's cheap.
Do you know how many outfits you can buy with that much money?! LOL
Trust me, wait until college to get a laptop, and get a nice one... it will be worth it. Because your parents arent going to want to buy you another one ya know..
Have a nice Christmas!!!

Tell them what you told us... Explain to them why you think you should get a laptop.. Show them how responsible you are..... Be you also need to remember not to give any personal info about yourself when you get your new laptop.. Because if they found out, your new laptop may be in the pawn shop..

if your parents put spyware programs and blocks on everysite they dont want you on and if you do well in school then I dont see a reason you cant get a cheap laptop for school stuff. you know they sell 188 dollors ones like thta one laptop per child thing have your parents buy one for you and they give one to charity for free

A kid doesn't need a laptop. I'm 23 and have managed to gain my degree without one, and am currently completing my postgraduate degree. So if I can get through university and college without one, then you can certainly do your 13-year-old homework without one.

You said it yourself- you're a 13-year-old KID and WANT it for "stuff". Laptops are for ADULTS and/or people that NEED it.

Best way to do it and it is fail safe. "Mom and Dad here's $1200 would you please go out and get me a laptop? Keep the change."Works every time. If you don't have money you must convince them that Its an investment in your education :-)

I see no reason that a kid shouldnt be able to have their own computer/laptop.
Unless you break alot of stuff, then id stay with a computer.
Just ask them for it, if youre parents are one of those an'al-parents then you prob can't convince them.
