Shirley - I could not agree more - it is hard enough to come up with gift ideas for those who are near and dear to me - so I just cannot imagine buying a gift for someone I do not know.
Perhaps these gift challenged individuals should consider buying gift certificates - they are after all "one size fits all"!

Well when they ask they want your opinion on what would otherwise be a challenge for them to figure out. Who knows maybe you have a better idea than they do. If you don't like the question then move on to the next one, I love it when people ask me or an opinion because maybe i have an idea as to what they are looking for. Besides there are plenty of other questions on here that you can answer, so keep looking for one that you like to answer and then answer it
