It seems I have moles or some such critter in my yard and flower beds. I have holes and raised areas throughout my yard which have gotten steadily worse the last few years. I would like to find out what they are and how to get rid of them without poison. Do the stakes that emit sonic waves work? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Most of the electronic gadgets really don't work. You need to have someone come out and take a look at your yard to properly identify why there are moles. It could be that you have grubs that are drawing them, and until you get rid of the grubs you'll have moles. On the other hand, you could have a lot of earthworms, which are healthy, so you don't want to get rid of them. Many people will tell you the only true option is a trap that's triggered by the mole and then - bam - no more mole.

Moles, voles, gophers, armadillos (those you'd see, LOL) Need to get them ID'ed. Contact your state university's Cooperative Extension Service in your county. The agent can guide you as to what you have and what you can do to eliminate them. There are multiple options, sometimes you have to use both capture and poison to stop the problem.

No, the electronic and thumping devices don't work.
