My doctor prescribed me birth control pills to regulate my period but the instructions on the pack say to take it when my next period starts. Problem is - I have no idea when that will be! Anyone have any idea when is the best day to start taking it? Can I just start now? Thanks a lot.

When did your doctor say to start taking it?
Call him/her up and ask. Inform them that you have no idea when your period will start.

Wait until the Sunday after you next period. Don't start now since you don't know where you are at in your cycle. It will just make things worse. The hormones in each week of pills are meant for that specific week, so taking the wrong one may make it take longer to be effective.

Honey this happen to my daughter just las month! Her periods were soooooooooooooo long she thought she had polyps and something she had a lot of test, but it was all negative, so her doc told her to take the birthcontrol pills to regulate and it took a while for her to get her period but it came and she started the pills and it works! wait until u get your period honey dont rush nothing...u may make it worse.

I dont understand why your doctor didnt tell you. Anyway generally i was told to take the first sunday after my last period. SO that would be Today.

first, you must choose which day of each month (monday,tuesday,wednesday,thursday,friday, saturday or sunday) you want to start each package with.
for me, i chose sunday.
therefore, the first pill i took was on the first sunday that came after my period.
let's say i had gotten my period on sunday, i take the first pill that day.
