I don't know how many times I've logged on and answered questions from parents who don't have the money for diapers or christmas gifts or medicine for their kids and want to know how they can get this stuff for free..

Yet the very next question they ask (Often within minutes of the one saying they're broke) they go and ask about something they saw on HBO or how a friend stood them up for a concert they had tickets for or how can they solve a problem with their new expensive camera..

I've been poor before- I was a teenage mother- The first year of my daughter's life, I was lucky if I had a dollar in my pocket to buy a soda at work with. But I didn't have cable. I didn't have an expensive digital camera. I didn't have a computer or internet access. I didn't go to concerts or out partying with friends.

Why do these people think they're owed free stuff when they obviously don't manage the money they've got?

I never cared what society thought of me.

When you become a parent, it's not about keeping up with the Joneses or what so-and-so is going to say about you if you aren't wearing designer jeans to the grocery store- it's about knowing your kids are happy and healthy. I would rather my wardrobe disappoint my peers than my actions disappoint my child.

I can relate to this , i can remember some hard time also. Some people just don't want to work if they can get somthing for nothing they will get it. I can remember not even having a tv period. we couldn't afford one. We didn't have gas for a car so we walked to work or if we were lucky some coworker would pick us up if we were out side at the end of the street. Now days some think they can't walk six blocks to work. I know I make the mistake of letting one of my daughters friend move in with us for awhile. and she would not go to work unless my daughter was working at the sametime she was and the job she had was not that far for her to walk if she had to. Finely I told her she had to find another place to go. So she did, I guess I was lucky not to have a problem with this. My cousin who works for a large company say that people get on all the list in town they can when they arn't suspose to get on just one to get their kids free stuff for christmas. I don't know what it is all coming to.

because this society makes you feel like a piece of crapp if you dont have the latest gadgets or go to the latest concerts or wear the right brand of clothes.
Sad, but true
