well you have to have a thesis and you can start by saying:
Every time you turn on the news you see a picture of a face of someone that thinks they know whats best for everyone. but do they really after all the debate and discussion there are still a few people that are not convinced that these people really do know whats best. For example global warming is a subject very much discussed yet no one is doing anything about it.
or something like that if its bad dont laugh cuz i just made that up from the top of my head

Start with something your readers will agree with -- for example, describe the things that could be changed by global warming (describe what we have/want to keep, not what could go wrong yet). Then transition with something about how we could lose those things if we don't take action. Lay out the threats to those things, then present the actions that could be taken to mitigate the threats.

You could start with an opening paragraph that gives a background of global warming. It should have facts about global warming and its impact on society. After that you can go into your arguments supporting global warming and why it's important! Good luck!

Get some startling statistics like the shrinking polar ice cap. If you can get some pics, that'd be great. You could get "An Inconvenient Truth" and play a clip. You could look at sea levels and explain how they are rising.
