I know a bit about their culture, but not as much as I would like to know ... anyway ... can anyone help me with this: many websites I visited had this worning at the very top:

Warning. This article may contain the names and images of Aboriginal and Islander people now deceased. It also contains links to sites that may use images of Aboriginal and Islander people now deceased.

I'm guessing it has somehting to do with religion, but what's the story?

The warning you saw comes up frequently at the start of Indigenous Television programs here in Australia.

Many Aboriginal communities have a mourning period, following a death in the family, where the people in their tribal community are not allowed to come in contact with the person's name, their image, video footage or the sound of their voice. It would be very distressing for someone in that situation to have this rule broken, which is why the media takes great pains to respect their religious beliefs.

I strongly suggest checking out the below link, which has a more in-depth explanation from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's MessageStick program (which also has this warning at the start of each show) on the reasons and why.

Interesting! I don't know but I would search on the phrase: "may contain the names and images of Aboriginal and Islander people now deceased." This search may turn up articles relating to why that phrase is used.

It is to do with their beliefs/religion, as they view the soul in a very different way to people of Christian beliefs..
They will not even speak the name of a deceased relative or go near the place where he/she died...
Here are a couple of sites which deal with Aboriginal death, even though it does not mention pictures or the TV, you will get the idea...

It is a religious thing. When they die, thing of material nature goes away with the soul. So I was told.

Aborigines are Caucasians. Did you know that ?
