easy. disassemble the steering colimn, remove the plug to the ignitioin switch, BUT do not disconnect the purple pin3 wire and the white pin 9 wire (goes to the auto theft system)

Go to Radio Shack and you`ll need a 5 ohm resistor to go between the black pin 7 wire and orange pin 2 wire, also Jump pin2 to pin6.

ALSO get a DPDT switch of at least 25 amp capacity from Radio Shack. it will have six terminals on it, MAKE SURE IT HAS "CENTER OFF"...

Looking at the terminals of the DPDT switch, the left middle one should get the RED wire from pin 1, the right middle should get the black pin7 wire.

the top left terminal should get the green pin 8 wire, the bottom RIGHT terminal gets the Yellow wire from pin 4.

Buy a push button able to handle 25 amps, and connect the RED wire thats also connected to the left middle terminal of the DPDT switch to the push Button, and the other side of the push button goes to the Orange pin 10 wire.

Center off shuts the car off. Down should be "Accessories" and up is "on"

push the button to engage the starter!

It`s EASY!!

You do know that if you don't do it right, the air bag will hit you so hard that you may need facial reconstruction surgery after that. Leave it alone if you don't know what you are doing. It is lot more complicated than you think.

E36 Bentley manual has step by step procedure on how to do this (replace ignition unit). Follow the direction step by step or you may end up in hospital.

Just save some money. Buy a new switch. And until then keep bumming rides off friends.

You first learn to spell properly and save your MONEY so you WILL not need to HOT-WIRE your car BECAUSE, with a brand new lock cylinder, you won't need to worry about your car not starting or TURNing off.
