It's the hinge. You need to go to the er to have it replaced. Dislocated jaws really hurt. They have to put him to sleep to fix it.

its tmj, a dislocation of his temporomandibular joint, ice and heat the area just below his ear where the jaw connect. also massage the area, softly, to try to replace the joint. you can also apply pressure to the chin and sides of his chin. give him an advil (if he can open his mouth far enough) and as soon as his jaw is fixed (if should go back in) then go to your dentist or orthodontist, not your doctor (they wont be able to do anything for you because tmj is a dentistry disorder)

trust what im saying cause i have tmj too. good luck and tell him i know exactly how he feels and im only 14 and im suffering from it!

agian good luck!

Get him to a doctor. Sounds like he dislocated it somehow or it can be a sign of tetanus. I'm sure there are a variety of other things that can cause this as well. How do you plan on feeding him? Go see a doctor now- this is not something you can do on your own.

if you step on a rusty nail, it can cause your jaw to lock up.

Try to wash the rust out of his foot with soap and water, and his mouth will loosen up.

Thanks,
PS
oh yea - good luck.
