I had just finished cycling my 3 gallon tank and put my African Dwarf Frog in and left him in there for about 2 days, and now I just added one of my Male crowntail bettas with him.Usually my frog just chills in his little cave all day, but when I added the betta, he keeps on going in the cave and starts nipping at the poor froggy, iv'e been having to fend off the betta with the blunt end of a chickabob stick, but the betta just won't leave my poor froggy alone! Any suggestions on how I can calm down the betta? I don't want to have to go out and buy another tank....

Just give them time to adjust to each other
You will see that your betta will leave him alone in time
I guess he kinda wants to have this cave ;)

I have noticed on my betta, that he was going after my fish for a few days, but after that he now only flares at them once in a while , that's it
also a live plant might help as well

Hope that helps
Good luck

One or all of these things:

3 gallons is a little bit small to be mixing other livestock with bettas - I generally recommend 5 gallons as an absolute minimum, and 10 gallons as a better minimum.

If you put just one other creature with a betta, this creature becomes a focal point. Having more livestock will actually keep the betta from caring about any of them. This 1 on 1 thing will often not work at all.

For betta communities make sure you have lots of plants as well as the cave for your frog.

ya bettas are kind of agressive. not good to mix a frog with a betta. no not good at all. bettas are supposed to be mixed with fish like tetras platys mollies and fish like that. or they can just be in a bowl.

Male bettas are territorial and aggressive. # gallons are way to smal for 2 animals like that.

the older beta's get, usually the more agressive. in some pet stores they have tank separators, your best bet is to divide them. betas will always be agressive, so if you get new fish, put them with your frog.

Betas are agressive fish...you really shouldnt be putting a beta in with any other species. My beta attacked my finger once.
