The best way to handle this problem is to sell your laptop in classifieds. That way you can price it where it needs to be. If you go and trade it in. you won't even get half of the laptops value and you will end up adding money to your new mac. Type in free listings and the area you live in and post it for sale there. Yahoo also has alot of groups that allow you to sell things...

i'm just guessing but you could probably go to the stor you bought it from or another computor or electronics store and trade it in. if u already tried that, then im sorry, i dont know ^.^, but Macs are not very good computers, i had on and it crashed after 2 weeks, it turns out, a 9 page power point is enough to over load it -.-,

I dont think you would be able to just get a Mac, but you could get some ca$h for a new mac.
