No. Every relationship has a learning value in it and so they are necessary. I like the one I am in now and would like to go even deeper into it.

Yes. That happens to me a lot because I nearly always fall for unattainable girls. I delude myself into thinking they love me too and then finally I have to face up to the fact that I'll never have them. I wind up with a lot of platonic 'friends' that I get to secretly lust after forever.
