Jobs: lots of high paying jobs from places like Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon.com, etc. The job market in Seattle is always good, even when it is bad in the rest of the country, since the employees of these companies usually always have a job, and then need services.
Environment: The winters are pretty warm, and rarely snows. There is usually 1-5 days of snow a year. And the summers are cool, and it is usually only in the 80s. The mild temperature is a draw to many people. Also, there are plenty of outdoor activities with all the mountains, lakes and ocean.
Culture: Seattle is very diverse, educated, and laid back when it comes to culture.
Finally, the city. Seattle is a beautiful city will so much to do.
All of this makes it a great place to live, so lots of people, especially from California (which they already screwed up from so many people moving there), move here and are now in the process of ruining it.

King County has land use management that doesn't want anyone to have a house. Getting a building permit takes a lot of time and they made a lot of land unbuildable essentially stealing it from the owner for green space. They don't allow people to subdivide land and if you have more than 5 acres they make you not use 60% or something. This means the houses that exist are worth more and many people leave the county to places they can live with some degree of freedom.

Our roads are laid out with one major route N and S. and two E and W. we have bad traffic and one to two hours a day in traffic is normal here.
If you live close to the interstate it cost more. Taxes are going up and food cost are the highest in the nation now. we have a few major employers and lot of small company's. We also have lakes you have to cross over on bridges or go around. A body of water for about 21 ferry boats to service and it is wet and building materials for this area are costly.
We do have better schools, lots do do on the weekends. one hour to the snow, the mountains or two hours to a beach on the ocean or two hours to a dessert. We do life in one of the bet looking or view areas of the world!

Many people have high paying jobs (Microsoft, Boeing, other tech companies) and can afford to pay more, so the demand for nicer housing goes up. The smaller, affordable places are being knocked down to build mansions.
