I've never heard a cover that has been that great compared to the original - but then again i haven't heard that many.
I like the Sisters of Mercy's gloomy take on "Comfortably Numb" though.

My least favourite is that ghastly Scissor Sisters cover of "Comfortably Numb".. jeezus peas, that cover is just horrendous.

You?

My least favorite would be Foo Fighter's Have a Cigar.. this doesn't come easily from me but I think they really made the song their own.

I doubt there will ever be a Pink Floyd cover thats more miserable to listen to than Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb.

Woah, I just realized that I typed in least for Foo Fighters.. I meant most!

Sticking with modern artists (or at least currently sort of relevant), I guess To cover There's a Riot Goin' On by Sly and the Family Stone 1 Luv n' Haight - Gil Scott-Heron 2 Just Like a Baby - Beck 3 Poet - Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings 4 Family Affair - Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens 5 Africa Talks to You "The Asphalt Jungle" - Panda Bear 6 There's a Riot Goin' On - John Cage (he's dead, but that shouldn't make a difference here) 7 Brave and Strong - F*cked Up 8 (You Caught Me) Smilin' - André 3000 9 Time - Gnarls Barkley 10 Spaced Cowboy - Joanna Newsom 11 Runnin' Away - MGMT 12 Thank You for Talkin' to Me Africa - The Dirtbombs What an awesome album that would be. I mean, this started out just for fun, but now I'm seriously bummed I can't hear this. BQ: I really don't like it much, but Brown Sugar

Don`t get me started on Floyd covers.
All are offencive. The Sister Sisters cover i cant even talk about. And that Wycliffe fella who done Wish You Where, i wish he bloody wasn`t.
Also whats that one of Another Brick in The wall, i think it`s trance track. Not my fave Floyd song, but still.

If you want some very credible covers check out Dream Theater. There are alot of Floyd covers from them on YouTube , brilliant!. Also theres an interesting one of High Hopes , if i remember right it was by Nightwish (if not Within Temptation).

You cannot mess with the mighty Floyd. Well thats what i think!!!!!

I've only heard two, and I like both of them {and everyone disagrees with me on the first one!} :~

Comfortably Numb ~ Scissor Sisters
I know, I know, but I like it!

Have A Cigar ~ Foo Fighters feat. Brian May
now *this* is a brilliant cover :)

Edit :~

I think I like it because they did something completely different with it. I mean, Pink Floyd isn't easy to cover without being almost the same as the original, so to give a {wonderful, I must add!} slowish tune a dancy edge just worked for me.

I really like Rasputina's cover of Wish You Were Here. I guess I just like the pretty girl voices singing.

FYI - I do love the Scissor Sisters' Comfortably Numb.

Roger Water's (I know he's the lead singer of Floyd, but technically is is a remake/cover) cover of "Comfortably Numb" from "The Departed" is pretty good.

And Primus does a great cover of "Have a Cigar."

In Dream Theater's "The Big Medley," the song "In the Flesh?" is brilliantly done.

Favorite: Sparkelhorse and Thom Yorke (of Radiohead) doing a cover of Wish You Were Here

Least favorite: Is there any other answer aside from Scissor Sisters?

EDIT: Ahhhh!!!! The Eric Prydz-Proper Education was a butchery of the song and they play it EVERYWHERE so I'm always forced to hear it :0(

EDIT:
The first time I heard the SS version, I was in some store and it came on and I was literally screaming "WTF?" at my best friend. I swore a woman was singing.

To be honest they are all terrible. How can they rip off a fantastic band. I agree with you the worst one has to be the scissor sisters

Must agree with you. In my opinion it should be an offence to cover anything by Pink Floyd
