I knew about the Civil War stuff, but not about. I thought she was from Arkansas
if so she would be reverse carpetbagger. maybe as you say she could not win in Arkansas and could there, it's history now.

Scourgae make a good point as Sen. dole was from the midwest and not sure where the other person was from, but that's a good point figured they would have said that..

With that said I now understand.

Why don't you ask that question to Sen. Elizabeth Dole, who hadn't lived in North Carolina for MANY years before running for the Senate.

Why don't you ask that hypocrite Alan Keyes (of Maryland), who called Hillary that before going to Illinois to run for the Senate (which he thankfully lost).

A carpetbagger was someone after the civil war that lived in the north, and then moved south to get involved in government or business during the reconstruction. They could count on the freed slaves vote as no slave would vote for any local politicians. Hillary did much the same thing, as she never lived in New York before she ran for senate.

The term "carpet bagger" came from the time right after the Civil War when people traveled into the South with their belongings in a suitcase made of carpet, or "carpet bag", which was very cheap to make. These opportunists then took advantage of the political atmosphere by aligning with freedmen (freed slaves) and Scalawags (southerners who supported Reconstruction) and thus controlled local and state governments. It is now a derogatory term meaning an outsider who is attempting to gain political office in geographical areas to which they previously had no connection and with which they don't intend to stay.

Hillary never was a resident of New York, but came in to become its senator as a stepping stone to greater office. If she becomes President, her ties to New York will probably be history.

They did some research way back and indeed, Hillary was projected as not electable in Arkansas. SO the Clinton's found a liberal Democratic home. Bought a million dollar plus house in a rural area. Left the White House cat & dog long behind and fresh onto new carpet she runs for Senator. See back in CIvil War daze...
they Northern guys took advantage of the poor defeated South. And moved in taking over, even though they did not truly belong.
Newspapers had a field day with cartoons similar to money bags from Monopoly. With Clinton it was an obvious re located for the love of politics. Then once her term was up she ran for relection stating she had no plans "yet" to run for President. lol She won back her seat and promptly took 10 mil from her NY piggy bank into Hillary '08.... Slick yet does not talk like the Willy. Acts like, walks likes... duck is a duck!!
btw #11 BCS and NFL chatter UH belongs in bowl if we defeat Washington!!! Can not wait ! Mass chaos on field the other nite.
Tampa Bay beat Washington Redkins. Happy Thanksgiving !!

a carpetbagger was a northerner that moved to the south during reconstruction after the civil war that seemingly were just looking for a quick prophet to themselves and not really carying about anyone else... they did not really plan on staying or doing anything for anyone's means but their own ... so they were implying that Hillary is in it for the glory and does not intend on doing anything for the benefit of the country but for her own agenda

A carpetbagger is someone who comes to any location that is NOT their native home, in order to take advantage of a local person's misfortune. That description really DOES fit her.

Because she was born and raised in Chicago, educated in New England, and then came down south to Arkansas to show people how to live like a northerner.

a carpet bagger is a term of insult of the highest level and deserving of complete contempt

hillary has a bad habit of doing and acting on things that show she is a low life scum in political terms and a horrible evil human in mankind terms

when she is called a carpet bagger, they elevate her to a level she does not deserve as she is evil, hunts out people who are not enemies and tries to destroy them with the might and power of the government. she will find her rest in eternal punishment of hell
but she does not believe it that so it will come as a shock

Because New York is not her home and she moved there simply to run for office to propel her presidential abilities. She probably could not have won the Senate race in her home state (Arkansas)

Senator Clinton--as always--is in it for the long haul--doing all she can for a brighter America.

Her run for The New York Senate was the logical move for Hillary to "continue" her dreams at the Presidency.
