A friend who runs a golf course finds them in the mole trail and stabs them in their little mole head. Clearly, I would like a more peaceful solution.

Moles eat grubs. If you have grubs you will have moles. Get rid of the grubs by spreading milky spore on the lawn. It destroys the grubs without harming the soil, your pets or you. Once the grubs are taken care of your moles will move elsewhere.

Just a note: Grubs are no good for the lawn anyhow so getting rid of them will help your lawn look better and take care of the mole problem.

Lime will do no good what so ever for this problem so do not bother with it unless you have done soil testing and your soil needs it.

There are these great machines that have a vacuum hose and they can literally suck the little fellas out and the worker takes them somewhere else. I do not know the name of the machine or the business. And of course, they probably charge for this service and just how much, I do not know. I just know that I read about it after my grandpa passed away. He used to find the critters on his property. He'd kill them, too. It always made me sad.... I wish he's used the vacuum thing instead....
