Then let three of the young people stand up and say what they were thankful for. As a retired Preacher, I wondered, how many of you would be most thankful if the Preacher could hold a sermon to 15 minutes instead of going on and on and on,,,,,,?

That would have to depend on the subject as well as whether the pastor were just going on and on and on to fill up the time, or if there were really that much material to cover on that subject.

When I was a little girl, my mother would drop off my sisters at school & we would go to church every morning! There was a priest who said mass every morning that talked SO slow it actually took over an hour for mass to end rather than the normal 45-50 minutes. I think that a 15 minute sermon was definitely appreciated by the parishioners!!!! LOL

If you write it out word for word it might be 8 pages. But, if you have to actually present the sermon orally, you would do better to use one page of key ideas, opening phrases of paragraphs, then practice the sermon so that those listening to you will feel as though you are speaking to them, not reading to them.

If you can get the message across in 15 minutes, then go for it! If not, you take the time that is needed to explain the Word.
I love the idea of having the young ones stand and say their thanks.

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard a sermon that was less than half and hour, fifteen minutes would be like a vacation.....

Have a good and blessed day.

Sorry Barry, but it would be great if preachers could condense their sermons or homilies. I think there would be fewer members of the congregation nodding off.

that's brief....but yet u don't want the sermon to go too long...or u lose people...their attention span isn't really long....I think it's great if u can get a message across in 15 minutes....people will start to snooze!
