I've found a few different versions by the same name, but i don't know if its the same storyline. check it out in the sources =)

There have been 3 other films with that title - one in 1913, one in 1918, and the other in 1961, starring Clark Gable. This film was also known as The Christmas Party.

"A Christmas Story" was adapted from several short stories taken from a book called "In God We Trust All Others Pay Cash" from Jean Shepherd. It was written in 1966. All movies were in color by then.
You must be thinking of a similar movie.
