Because society does not look highly on persons that come from seperated or disfunctional homes for some reason. They look at it and that person as a problem and confusion.

In modern western society it is just too common to have any impact. In the past, and in other parts of the world, the illegitimate child was basically blamed for the actions of his or her parents and were ostracized. This made it very hard to succeed when everyone just dismissed you as a bastard child.

This varies a great deal depending on where you live, in some societies it is not an issue at all, i can think of Jamaica in one extreme and on the other extreme i can think of Bavaria where if you live in a village you might as well be a witch.. i can only cite places where I have lived... legally Scandinavian countries are probably the most liberal in terms of rights i would think.

ILLEGITIMACY is no longer an issue in many parts of the world.

But in areas where religious standards are upheld, illegitamacy will be a taint in that child's impressionable years. It will be something that will never be forgotten.

Here in the US, I don't think the term's even used much anymore, but in my family it's looked down upon.

I don't believe it affects them at all. What difference does it make. Kids are kids.

Hi,in this day & age it should have no effect has the stigma as gone.
