ex. someone has lost a mother/ father at a young age (anything horrible that could happen in the world really) and you write them a card saying "i know how you feel" totally inappropriate unless you have been in the same situation, some my take a statement like that offensively

Yes, of course. When I first read your question, I thought you meant if you were to survive a plane crash or something and if your account was true or not. Everyone has their own idea of experience and I have had 45 years of various experiences, so I guess so.

i believe that is as close, as one can get to their truth of understanding ones experience. and you will still only be telling of your experience. the story line so similar, yet different. maybe something like, jello. we both like jello, but the experience of having fruit in it changes the story line and the context of it. but we still like jello in all the flavors of life.
