Earlier freepress02 asked, "What can our Republican folks here in the U.S. do to help their party maintain face as 2008 rolls in?"
The best answer to his question came from Mr. knowitall (modified for correctness), who said, "They can take back their party. They can rediscover the respectable values and ethics of the GOP. They can cooperate in indicting Bush and Cheney, because every day those political figures stay in office they do more damage to the laws and to our nation. Due to their fraudulent Iraq War, our nation is two trillion dollars in debt! Republicans and Democrats should acknowledge the wrongs of this Iraq War, face up to the truth in an honorable effort to set this nation's image and foreign policy set aright once again. Other than that, there is no honorable way to bring our troops back home and to end the war in Iraq as well as to end the war on terrorism.
By facing up to the truth, we, the people, will be making our world that much better.

Should our nation pretend that the Iraq War did not exist? Or should our nation pretend that our President was justified in killing 300,000 innocent Iraqis plus another 360,000 in the ensuing civil war from 2003 to 2006. And from 1991 to 2007, a total of two million innocent victims. And disrupting the lives of Iraq's 30 million people being injured, killed, or displaced all due to an illegal and criminal US war!
This war was not necessary, both wars 1991 and 2003! Saddam was not a threat to oil or to Western interest in 1990 as reported by the CIA. Iraq's invasion of Kuwait was not a hostile act of naked aggression, which would have permitted our nation to legally act. And Saddam in November 1990 had agreed to every publicly stated term that the US had demanded. It was the Bush administration in 1990 that had committed fraud by lying about Saddam and the upcoming Iraq War to the American people.
In 2003, the Bush administration committed fraud and brought about this war

via intentional lies to the American people and the same at the UN. UN Resolutions were secured through intentional fraud by Secretary of State Colin Powell and this policy was again continued, with intent and the knowledge that it was wrong, illegal, and criminal, by the next Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
How can the American people be so blind? How could many good Democrats have been deceived? And upon a finding that the Iraq War is illegal and fraudulently gotten, how could the Democrats in Congress not call for a special prosecutor to right the wrongs of two million innocent deaths, if not only for the 660,000 that died in Bush Junior's term (from 2003 to 2006)?
Are those lives expendable?
Where is the love? Both Democrats and Republicans are responsible. What kind of nation and what kind of people are we any way?
What do you think foreign leaders now think of our nation? I can give you EXACT statements or opinions of Tony Blair, for one, and HIM Yao Sui,

China's Emperor in exile and future President of China, for the other.
It is a tragic crime, if the people responsible for the Iraq War are not indicted, especially with all of the evidence and wrongdoing (facts) available to anyone wanting and asking for such!
What is the value of two million innocent lives taken at our government's hands? And done through fraud and lies.
What kind of people are we any way?
Are we Christians? Should the President be held accountable for his actions? After all he is a true son of the true and Christian god as a born-again Christian via the salvation from the Christ. Doesn't anyone or any Christian care? The name of God is at stake, also too, with this issue and America's dedication to the true god as a nation and family of true Christians!
One man, a son of the living god, committing fraud, which resulted in the deaths of two million people from 1991 to 2007. How serious is this?

Ps: And by the way, I gave everyone, who answered this question without reading the question a thumbs down (four people got a thumbs down from me). You shouldn't answer without reading the entire question. Not knowing the question can not produce a decent answer or intelligent response. I am not a Democrat and I have no actual party affiliation. I could be classified as a Republican, due to my work and earlier relationships with the Republican Party (Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, and Bush administrations). Then, too, close friends of mine were Carter and John F. Kennedy people, so I have affiliations there.

Sometimes, we all do things which we regret later. Sometimes, we should have compassion for people and not stick to stoggie rules. I read the answers provided by the four early contributors and liked what I read. I would give them a thumbs up for their honest and honorable efforts.
THE SOLUTION FOR POLITICS 2008 is what is said or mentioned above in the second paragraph. Indictments should come down and people put in prison. Iraq should be compensated so that all nations will know and will respect the rule of law.
If this is not done, (1) you can expect mutually a assured destruction to come about. (2) If your politicians lie and continually lie about each and every issue, then by basing America's issues on a lie, your nation will never be able to work with other nations in resolution to the many problems facing this world.
We live in a wide world, where we need the cooperation of all of the other nations. If such is not secured, then we will be fighting good nations that disagree

with a US foreign policy, which is in error and set up in such a way that everything that follows is both criminal and corrupt. An honest and upright nation CAN NOT go along with something that is untenable and illegal. Such will be the US's future foreign policy!
It was China's Emperor and head of state in exile, who negotiated the end to the Iraq War in 1990 at a time, when the Bush administration continually said, that all it wanted was for Saddam to get out of Kuwait. When our company successfully secured that and much more, the Bush administration had us silenced. We have been speaking out about the truth of this unethical, criminal, and illegal war for some time now and hoping that Congress would take the appropriate actions or the US people will wake up and demand changes from their elected political officials. Herein we, honorably, stand!

I believe there are some good people on the Republican side, the problem is will they stand up and do the right thing? Will they be honorable and can we trust them? That is the legacy that Bush has left the Republican party. His corruptness and ethically challenged administration has left a bad taste in even his most loyal supporters and the Republican candidate is going to have a very difficult time distancing himself from Bush especially while they are all publicly mimicking his policies. I really don't see how they can win, people are sick of them. I have people everyday, die-hard Republicans who say they will not vote for any of these candidates and will most likely vote Democrat.

Well, let's not go down the proverbial rabbit hole here. There are good, smart people in parties of all stripes.
Not to be too pretentious, but "good and smart" people have been at the heart of some of humanity's worst attrocities.
I would respectfully submit, that a cursory glance at history reveals that Democrats are just as prone to supporting oppressive regimes and legislature as their Republican brethren.
I would agree that Bush and Cheney should be indicted for their war crimes ... but so should Senator Hillary Clinton and the other Democrats who have staunchly supported this war from the very beginning.

People are people and whether they are democrats or republiicans there are going to be those who do good and those who do bad. I have to say lately that the repulicans can't seem to do anything right, but that's this group who are in office. I'm sure there are some republicans out there who have a brain, they just aren't in politics at present. AS far as the democrats go, they aren't exactly a winning group either. They have more to chose from, but among those they have to chose from there is no shining star who is going to plow over the ompetition. Personally I do think it is time for us to make a move and see a woman as president, showing that the "glass celing" has finally been broken. But people should be judged by their personalities not by their political choices.

If there are so many good people in the Dimocrat party, then why aren't any of them running for president. All of the Dimocrat candidates are whores for La Raza who want to give all the illegal aliens in our country a "path to citizenship."
IN the GOP, Rudy G, and Juan McCain are not better than the Dims. Romney is a flip flopper, Huckabee is a wimp, and Thompson doesn't have the drive to be president. Only Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul can be counted on to protect our country from the illegal alien invasion, La Reconquista.

I know as many Republicans who are smart an wise, as I know Democrats who are just as intelligent; however, they are not anywhere similar to the fanatical fringe groups that are so abundant here on yahoo.
I have quite a few good discussion on politics with them, and they both have very good ideas on things that should be done. But no matter how good of an idea, if you overlook the potential for abuses of power, every good idea can become a bad one rather quickly.
That is why when I make a decision on any issue, I always ask myself, before i ask how much it will cost compared to the benefit, I ask myself "what is the potential that this can be abused to relieve us of our freedom?"
You would be amazed how many seemingly good ideas look horrible when you ask this question first, and consider all possibilities.
When I poke hole sinto their great ideas with this simple little test, they don't resort to calling me a socialist lib, or a fascist con, that is so common on these boards, they usually reply with "I see your point."
and that is usually what happens when intelligent people discuss matters, and are open to criticism.
"the road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Of course there are good and bad people in both parties. I think I am a "good" democrat but I have a good friend who considers himself a "good" republican. Even though we disagree on politics I still consider him an extremely good, caring person. Our views on politics are influenced by many things, life experiences, things we read, people we admire and in some cases religion. None of these things make you a "good" or "bad" person.
