Welcome. It can be very uselful but you must read the answers with care.

There are a lot of time wasters and idiots on this site.

But on the whole most people are very good and you'll get good answers - providing your question is worded clearly enough.

Some questions are vauge or confusing, or not even proper questions. Sometimes their spelling an English is so bad that it frustrates the answerers and provokes 'comments'.

Some answers are, frankly, insulting. Be prepared to Report these to Yahoo and get them barred.

Be careful of answers from the USA, their source is not always apparent. In the fields of motoring, law, DIY and electricity they can be very wrong for UK use and sometimes quite dangerous if you follow the advice.

Better Questions Yield Better Answers

Offer as much detail as you can in your question, and it will help us greatly in providing answers.

There are many of us 'old hands' in the various trades who contribute regularly here... anything from the standard contractor, to plumber, electrician... even furniture builders, hehehe. Many of us currently own, or have owned in the past, our own small business, doing what we love, and we have real hands on experience.

There is always someone with a crackpot, or silly answer, and some who have no clue what they are talking about... so don't run out and immediately try whatever your first answer is, hehehe... wait a day or so, and get several more answers. It may be necessary for you to provide more details too.

I for one, enjoy coming here to offer what help and advice I can...many of the other regular posters feel the same, I'm sure.

Welcome to the community :)

Except for all the wrong and dangerous answers you get, it's kind of fun. I would never take any advise from this site. People lie about being plumbers and electricians, when they actually don't know much of anything about those subjects. There is one YOUNG guy on here who says he has been a master electrician for 45 years. Funny stuff. People here love to answer questions, even if they have no idea what they are talking about. Have fun.

There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site. Every now and then you get some smart alec answers, but very few, if you ask an intelligent question.

I think you will enjoy the site, feel free to ask away.

Sure is, but beware, some answers can be misleading. Most of us try to be honest and helpful, but there are some jokers.
Lots of tradesmen contribute and will usually make it known in the "know your source" section.
Welcome and enjoy.
