Should be manganese(IV)

Are these demos you saw in class? If not, how are you supposed to know?

btw, the answers are a) copper hydroxide (pale blue) is precipitated, then redissolves as Cu(NH3)42+, b) solution turns green; SO2 oxidized to sulfate and dichromate is reduced to green Cr3+, c) iron(II) oxidized to iron(III) in solution (turns browninsh); Fe(OH)3 precipitated, d) catalytic decomposition to H2O + O2 (you sometimes actually also see this in (c) - try it - but your instructor may not know this)
