Just got done replacing multiple parts on a 97 dodge intrepid, water pump, gaskets, etc. put the car back together went to start it and heard water POURING on the ground, not dripping. when we looked under the car the water was coming from the muffler and yes i mean the muffler not resonator. it was hooked up to a computer about 2 weeks ago and it was misfiring on all cylinders and we are running oxygen rich. checked our oil and its fine.Do we need to replace the head gasket or is something else wrong with our car? the car will not start, it tries, but will not catch.

the water is pouring out the bottom of the muffler, it is not coming out the tailpipe, therefore, it does not touch the resonator. I do know a little about what i'm talking about, so please...

its been a really long time since i have seen one do that ,you either have a really bad head gasket or a cracked head on it,its not going to run while its doing that though, you,ll need to tear in to it to find out what caused that too happen, that's really a strange thing to happen to it all the sudden like that ,good luck with it.

Sounds like time to have a real mechanic tell you whats wrong. Water pouring from the muffler not the resonator? If it's pouring out the exhaust it has to go through both of them. If it's pouring out in the engine compartment someone messed up the water pump replacement. Was water pouring out of the motor before you messed with it? No one can tell whats wrong at this point without having the car in person to diagnose.
